National Perspective on Information Sharing and Interoperability
Paul W

Paul Wormeli, Executive Director of the Washington-based IJIS Institute, will kick off our Wednesday agenda with an update on major national programs affecting state and local justice agencies, including Fusion Centers, FBI National Data Exchange (NDEx), Global Justice XML and the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), and the new Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) Grant Program

Paul is well-prepared to make the vital connections between these national initiatives and what they really mean for you and your officers on the street.

DHS Promises Flexibility for $1B Interoperability Grants

The Homeland Security Department plans to release details shortly on how it intends to allocate to states a new $1 billion fund designated for interoperable public safety communications under the Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) Grant program. The money is being made available through a scheduled auction of radio spectrum to take place in 2008. Congress moved deployment of the $1 billion a year forward by a year in the Call Home Act of 2006.

You'll get the latest information on this new grant program from Paul Wormeli, Executive Director of the non-profit IJIS Group, in his session at the User Conference.

Get in touch with your Customer Advisory Board mail

At the request of last year's attendees for more information on "lessons learned" from successful mobile projects, we've asked our Customer Advisory Board to lead a roundtable on recent customer implementations and best practices. We've scheduled that session for the first morning of the Conference so you'll have plenty of time to meet one-on-one with presenters and participants over the course of the Conference.

We're very interested in hearing about your experiences, as well. If you'd like to contribute to this session, please contact SergeantTodd Beam, Lincoln, NE Police Department at contact692@earthlink.com

Product Spotlight: InfoServer 6.0

The User Conference marks the release of InfoServer 6.0. This latest version helps you manage your mobile environment more easily and cost-effectively with new features like a Web-based InfoServer Administrator and system self-monitoring and notification.

We're scheduling multiple agenda sessions at the User Conference on InfoServer 6.0 and how to upgrade, where we'll walk you through every step of the upgrade process from your current level, and you can go "hands-on" in the Solutions Lab so you understand the new features fully before you upgrade. The cost of this training and technical assistance, if we came to you, would be over $2500.

BIO-key Announces Support for Vista

BIO-key has certified Microsoft Vista for MobileCop and MobileRescue operating on InfoServer version 6.0 and higher. At the User Conference InfoServer upgrade sessions and in the Solutions Lab, you'll get practical advice on how to transition and manage your InfoServer and mobile client environment under Vista.

InfoExchange™  - A New Way to get RMS Data to Your Mobile Users

The most frequent new product request we've gotten is for a simple, inexpensive way to get local RMS data to mobile users. We listened. InfoExchange™ gives your officers on the street direct access to incident and arrest history, and other local and regional data from your RMS.

In the Data Sharing session at the User Conference you'll learn how agencies are using InfoExchange today. And in the Solutions Lab you can find out how InfoExchange can help you get RMS data to your users quickly and easily.
