From the General Manager's Desk
I would like to thank each of you who
attended our second annual User Training
Conference last month in St. Pete Beach,
FL. In addition to providing valuable
training for you, these meetings are an
essential sounding board for us on what
you need to support your mobile users.
That helps us build products with
greater functionality and usability, and
bring the right partner solutions to
you.
At this year's Conference David Finchum,
our Law Enforcement Product Manager, and
I presented our Product Roadmap for the
coming year, including the release later
this year of MobileCop® Navigator, our
new mapping solution utilizing Microsoft
MapPoint.
Continuing to get your ideas and
feedback is important to us. That's one
of the reasons behind our launch of the
Customer Suppoprt Forums
website, which you'll learn about
in this newsletter. We've created a
dedicated Request for Enhancement (RFE)
area on the site for you to post your
own suggestions and provide feedback on
suggestions from other customers. Your
contributions to the Forums will help
make them a vital and valuable tool for
all of us.

Bio-Key Receives Multi-factor Security Approval
The
Massachusetts Criminal History Systems
Board (CHSB) recently approved BIO-key's
solution for advanced (multi-factor)
authentication for law enforcement
agency access to federal and state CJIS
data. The BIO-key solution approach is
designed to give customers a range of
manageable and scalable authentication
options.
BIO-key's accepted solution includes
three potential methods that could be
used (in addition to a password or PIN)
to meet the advanced authentication
requirement. The solution includes the
most common and cost-effective biometric
method: fingerprint, and two different
"something you have" methods: a
hardware-based token device and a
software-based one-time password (OTP).
BIO-key has included its WEB-key
fingerprint biometric authentication
component directly within
InfoServer
Release 6.0 at no additional cost to
MobileCop® and PocketCop® customers.

approved authentication methods,

New Jersey Investigators and
Lancaster PA Police Choose
PocketCop
We're pleased to welcome the
Ocean County
Prosecutor's Office as our 90th
New Jersey law enforcement
customer. Lieutenant Mike
Nevil noted
that "our Special
Operations Group, which includes
Narcotics, Intelligence and the
Gang Investigations Unit, will
utilize PocketCop from the field
on convenient handheld devices,
such as
BlackBerries, to obtain
critical state and federal data
(including) outstanding warrants
and information on stolen
vehicles, guns and other
articles."
Ocean County is just one of a
growing number of agencies
deploying PocketCop on
handhelds, like the RIM
BlackBerry
and Windows Mobile devices, for
field personnel. "Whether
they're fighting crime on foot,
or on horseback, (with)
PocketCop, Lancaster officers
are now on the same page, as
those behind the wheel." That's
part of the good press that
Lancaster County (PA) got in a
recent televised news story
broadcast by CBS21, in nearby
Harrisburg.

The new MobileCop® NCIC CCI
Summary Screen display
makes it even easier for you
to give your users query
results in a consistent,
easy-to-view format on a
single screen. With the new

·
You set preferences on what
data is displayed and how it
is displayed (e.g., summary

The user simply clicks on a
summary-level item he wants
to look at in detail.
Doug Fox, Lincoln County OR
told us: "Well Done! The

intuitive; easy to follow
the data flow. Bio-Key has
obviously done its
homework."
The new display lets you
highlight hits and warnings
(with color and flash),
with a hot link that gets
the user quickly to detailed
information. Users will also

MobileCop Users in Haverhill,
MA Get Live Streaming Video
BIO-key partner,
AirVisual,
Inc, the leading provider of
visual intelligence to law
enforcement and first
responders, is currently
deploying its
IntelliViewer 2.0 system
in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Intelliviewer is being
used by Haverhill to transmit
real-time video from deployed
cameras throughout the city to
the mobile data computers in
squad cars via the state
wireless network. When fully
deployed, Haverhill police
officers will be able to access
archived and live streaming
video directly from their
MobileCop screens. They will
also be able to share video and
still shots for
BOLOs
and visual verification of
incidents.
With
AirVisual
IntelliViewer, video
that's available at your command
center is now immediately and
directly accessible by police,
fire and other first responders
in the field. With
IntelliViewer on
MobileCop®,
MobileRescue™ or
PocketCop® devices, they can
remotely access and monitor
video feeds from enabled
surveillance and security
cameras anywhere in the
community. Site maps and floor
plans can be automatically
linked for viewing. That gives
your mobile and other field
personnel visual intelligence
before they arrive on scene -
protecting their safety and
improving their response.

Federal Grant Update

A number of Department of Justice 2007
grant programs were affected by late
Congressional budget approval.
This included the COPS Technology
program, funded at $159M, which is
focused on information sharing and
interoperability. All states and
specifically-targeted urban areas were
invited to apply, with applications due
on June 29th. (We alerted our
customers who were directly eligible to
apply for funding.) Agencies which
were not directly eligible to apply as
target urban areas should contact the
state administrative agency to
determine whether they would be eligible
for COPS funding through the state's
allocation.
On a related note, DOJ recently compiled
on CD a compendium of more than 50
documents and resources related to law
enforcement and crime fighting
technology. Topics include: crime
mapping/crime analysis, interoperable
communications and information sharing,
surveillance video/in-car cameras, and
311 non-emergency call systems. For more
information or to order, click

Regional Information Sharing with
InfoExchange
The
funding guidelines for the
recent COPS Technology Grant
program point out that the
"inability to share (RMS)
information across jurisdictions
often impedes the ability of
agencies to work together to
enhance crime-fighting and
public safety." InfoExchange™,
recently introduced by
BIO-key, addresses this problem.
InfoExchange gives
MobileCop
users direct and
immediate access to RMS and
other local databases, such as
warrants. And multiple MobileCop
user agencies can exchange data
with each other.
With
InfoExchange, when the
officer makes a standard NCIC/CJIS
look-up, an RMS system query
is automatically generated. Any
officer in any participating
jurisdiction will see arrest,
citation and incident history
from every other participating
jurisdiction, enhancing the
ability to fight crime and
protect public safety. As a
MobileCop user agency, you can
give your officers and
investigators access to RMS data
from other jurisdictions, even
if those jurisdictions aren't
MobileCop users.
Two of the common barriers to
multi-jurisdictional information
sharing are cost and complexity.
With
InfoExchange, there's no
costly custom RMS interface or
change to RMS software, making
it an inexpensive and
easy-to-implement way to share
information across agencies and
jurisdictions.
For more information on
InfoExchange,
on-line demonstration call (800)
